Calvary was first organized on March 16, 1954 with 80 baptized members. The name Calvary Lutheran Church was selected at the time of the organization. The name “Calvary” has deep meaning for all Christians. Calvary is the name of the hill on which Christ was crucified and seemed an appropriate name for this congregation organized during the Lenten season (the days before Easter when the church focuses on Christ’s journey to the cross), in preparation of the joy of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Christ’s resurrection makes our lives better. Because of Jesus, we know that we do not face life alone. With Christ all things are possible! At Calvary Lutheran Church, you will find sisters and brothers together on a journey as we learn of Christ’s love for us and the world.
